Steps to setup the HP printer for Windows XP

  3. First print a configuration page from the printer’s control panel to ensure connectivity to the network
  4. Browse and access the printer’s internal web page through its IP address
  5. The Windows XP computer system and the printer should both the connected to the same wireless network
  6. For a wireless connection HP printer setup:
    • Click on Start and then select Control Panel

  7. If your printer model is unlisted:
    • Browse for CD under Have Disk
    • Select the first file with the extension .inf
    • Click on Open and then click on Ok
    • Select the printer and Next
      • Choose the currently installed driver
      • Enter a new name of the printer when prompted (you can also use the existing one)
      • If asked you want to share the printer you may click on NO
      • You can now print a test page
      • Click on Finish once the test page is successful
